The Coastal Sounds Community Choir, conducted by Andrew Cranston and accompanied by Beth Cranston, originally formed in January 2007 as a project of The Music Corner in Manuels, Conception Bay South. In 2011, the choir branched off as its own non-profit community organization, ran by an elected Executive Committee. Having begun with just eight brave souls, regular membership has grown to between 50-60 singers with new members joining each year. The choir is comprised of members living in the Conception Bay South and surrounding areas and all come from different musical backgrounds and experiences.
Coastal Sounds holds at least two concerts each season and performs at various special events, fundraisers, retirement homes and Church services throughout the year. It has taken part in Rotary and Kiwanis Music Festivals and has performed in various venues in Conception Bay South and surrounding communities. The choir invites new members to join in September and January. No prior singing experience is necessary and all people enthusiastic about singing and who are willing to learn are welcome to join.
Rehearsals are held on Wednesday nights at Holy Spirit High School in Manuels, CBS.
