The Coastal Sounds Community Choir, conducted by Andrew Cranston and accompanied by Beth Cranston, was originally created in January 2007 as a project of The Music Corner in Manuels. In 2011, the choir branched off as its own non-profit community organization, ran by an elected Executive Committee. Membership began with only eight members but has now grown to over 50 and continues to grow each year. The choir is comprised mainly, but not exclusively, of members living in the Conception Bay South area and all come from different musical backgrounds and experiences.
The Coastal Sounds Community Choir has performed at a number of different venues, including local churches and special events in Conception Bay South, the Kiwanis and Rotary Music Festivals in St. John’s, as well as DF Cook Hall at Memorial University. The choir invites new members to join in September and January. No prior singing experience is necessary and all people enthusiastic about singing and willing to learn are welcome to join. The fee for the choir is $120 per year ($60 per semester) plus the cost of music, which becomes the property of the singer.
Rehearsals are currently held on Wednesday nights from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM at Holy Spirit High School in Manuels, CBS.
