The Aurora Women’s Choir, conducted by Andrew Cranston, was formed in September 2014 as part of CSCA’s expansion. The group is auditioned and accepts new members in September and January. The CSCA was proud to announce their new name, meaning “electric, colourful lights” at their debut performance in December 2014 during the Association’s Annual Holiday Concert.
The AWC aims to perform mainly a cappella music, and explores three and four-part repertoire of all styles. Although the choir has only been together for a year, they already have a number of successes, such as two concerts, winning a Gold standard at the 2015 Rotary Music Festival, and being invited to represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2016 Unisong Music Festival in Ottawa, ON.
The fee for the choir is $120 per year ($60 per semester) plus the cost of music, which becomes the property of the singer. Rehearsals are held on Sunday nights from 7 to 9 PM at Topsail United Church. For information about how to audition, please contact us at email@example.com.
